Established in 1975, the college has grown from strength to strength and from an initial handful of students, the college now has a student population of nearly 1500 comprising undergraduate and post graduate students from nearby areas, offering courses ranging from Arts and Science.

Govt. P G College, Hamirpur has an excellent reputation among students, their parents and the world around. However, since my arrival in July 2024 we have been considering what Govt. P G Collegeshould be like in the future, to ensure that we strengthen still further this reputation. As a result many exciting changes are now in the pipeline. In particular, we are building on our strengths while developing new professionally-relevant areas; investing in skill development, excellent facilities, and reorganizing ourselves to ensure that we maintain our traditional focus on academic excellence.
